Council launches Business Impact Survey to support recovery

Colac Otway Shire Council has launched a Business Impact Survey to better understand how local businesses have been affected by the recent fires and flash floods across the region.
The survey is open for three weeks and invites businesses from all industries - including tourism, retail, agriculture, trades, services and supply‑chain–dependent operators - to share how the events have impacted their operations, workforce, cashflow and forward bookings.
The survey will play a critical role in building an accurate picture of the economic effects across the shire.
CEO Andrew Tenni said local businesses have been dealing with significant disruption - from cancellations and reduced visitation through to supply chain delays and staff shortages.
“This survey gives businesses a voice, and it gives Council the evidence we need to advocate strongly on their behalf with all relevant agencies.
“Our business community is the heartbeat of Colac Otway - when they hurt, we all feel it. This survey is our way of making sure every voice is heard and every impact is counted, so we can drive the recovery our region deserves,” he said
Council is working closely with Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism and recovery partners, and the findings will help guide support programs, recovery planning and Council’s broader engagement with impacted industries.
“Whether your business was directly affected by the fires and floods or experienced secondary impacts such as access issues or supply chain disruption, we want to hear from you. Every response helps us understand the full picture and ensures the needs of our community are clearly heard,” Mr Tenni said.
The survey takes around five minutes to complete and can be accessed here.
Businesses are encouraged to participate and share the survey through their networks so the collective experiences of the region can be accurately captured.
The survey closes at 5pm on Friday March 6.
