The Colac Otway Shire has two libraries operating in the region - one in Colac and the other in Apollo Bay. These libraries fall under the banner of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC).

 Colac Community Library and Learning Centre

The Colac Community Library and Learning Centre is a modern, state-of-the art facility built in 2010 for the Colac district community. The centre accommodates the general community, Colac Secondary College students and other learning groups including TAFE and U3A students.

Colac Community Library and Learning Centre users have access to the following facilities, resources and programs.

Internet, computers and printing

The library has eight PCs available, each with access to Internet and Microsoft Word and can be booked in advance. Internet access is for up to two hours per day, while WiFi is available to members with WiFi compatibility.

Mobile printing now available through the Geelong Libraries website. Visit the GRLC website and follow the path to > SERVICES>Printing & scanning>

Wireless printing

Select branches now allow you to print wirelessly. Print from home, from your tablet, or from your smart phone and pick it up from the library at your convenience.

Enter your desired printing options, email address, and the file you want to print. Confirm your details. The print job will be ready to print when you arrive at the branch.

Print via app

The PrinterOn app is available for Apple and Android devices.

After downloading the app, select the file for printing and search for your nearest branch printer. Enter your email address and send the printing. The print job will be ready to print when you arrive at the branch.

Meeting rooms

The library has five meeting rooms for groups and members of the public to book. Contact the Colac library team for more information.

Baby Time, Toddler Time and Story Time

These sessions are designed for children and babies to interact with their parents and carers. Sessions aim to introduce words, language and music in a fun environment.

Apollo Bay Library

The Apollo Bay library has a public computer with Internet access, access to online resources, talking books for children, e-books and a host of books to loan. The library also operates the Rhyme Time program for pre-school children at 10am each Wednesday during school term and Story Time on Wednesdays at 11am.

Outreach Library Service

The library outreach van provides a mobile library service to people to small rural communities where there is no physical branch, people unable to visit a library due to frailty, disability or ill health. The van services Colac and other rural locations within the Shire, including Beeac, Beech Forest, Birregurra, Coragulac, Cressy, Forrest, Gellibrand and Lavers Hill. The van visits these towns fortnightly and carries a collection of more than 1200 items for loan, including fiction and non-fiction books, talking books, videos and DVDs, large print books and magazines.
