Waste transfer stations, are located at Alvie, Birregurra and Apollo Bay (see below for locations and hours of operation).

Council’s waste transfer stations accept general rubbish, hard rubbish, recycling and organic waste.

All Council Transfer Stations and Drop off are cashless facilities.

Drop Off Facilites

Council operates drop-off facilities at Beech Forest, Lavers Hill, Carlisle River and Gellibrand for residents without access to kerbside collection services.

EFTPOS and tip ticket books are accepted at all Council Transfer Stations and Drop off facilities

Tip ticket books can be purchased from the Customer Service centres in Apollo Bay and Colac or by calling 03 5232 9400

Cost of waste and recycling disposal

  • Waste disposal charges to use a waste transfer station or drop off facility within the Shire depends on the size of your load and what materials you have to dispose.
  • Waste disposal tickets are available from Council’s customer service centres. These tickets can be used at any waste transfer station or drop off facility within the shire.

In the event of fire or extreme weather

  • Waste transfer stations and drop-off facilities will not operate on code red fire danger days. Rubbish and recycling collections will take place on the next available operating day.
  • Waste transfer stations and drop-off facilities might not operate on extreme weather days. Please check our website and social media pages, and listen to the local radio for information.
