Small Business Friendly Council
The Victorian Small Business Commission, in partnership with local councils, has developed the Small Business Friendly Council charter to provide small business with the support they need to run their businesses.
The Colac Otway Shire is one of 34 councils that have signed up as a Small Business Friendly Council (SBFC). Other councils in our regions that have signed the charter include the Corangamite Shire, Pyrenees Shire and the City of Greater Geelong.

The Small Business Friendly Charter outlines shared goals for both the VSBC and participating local councils in working to create a fair and competitive trading environment for small businesses.
By signing the Small Business Friendly Charter, Colac Oway Shire have pledged to:
- Pay small business within 30 days
- Support local businesses in managing the impacts of infrastructure projects
- Streamline the approval process when starting a business
- Help set up and support local business networks.
