2025-26 Christmas and New Year Opening Hours

The Colac Customer Service Centre will close at 3pm on Wednesday 24 December and reopen at 8.30am Monday 5 January 2026.

Council’s Customer Service Centre in Apollo Bay (located at the Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre) will close Christmas Day and open 9am – 5pm all other days.

Council’s after-hours phone service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any urgent or animal related matters - please call 5232 9400.

Kerbside Waste Collection

There will be no kerbside bin collection Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) or Thursday 1 January (New Years Day).

Kerbside collections on Thursday 25 December and Friday 26 December, and Thursday 1 January and Friday 2 January will take place on the following day.

• Thursday 25 December collections will take place on Friday 26 December.
• Friday 26 December collections will take place on Saturday 27 December.
• Thursday 1 January collections will take place on Friday 2 January.
• Friday 2 January collections will take place on Saturday 3 January.

Transfer Stations

Apollo Bay and Alvie Transfer Stations will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, open every other day from 10am – 2pm.

No changes to Birregurra Transfer Station hours of operation.

Drop-Off Facilities

There are no changes to the Council’s Drop-Off Facilities, please visit Council’s website for days and times of operation.

Colac Otway Shire Council will have additional weekly kerbside recycling collections (yellow lid) and free glass disposal during January. More information about our Extra Waste Services can be found in the Rubbish & Recycling area of this website.

Ageing Well will close at 3pm Wednesday 24 December and reopen at 8.30am Monday 5 January.

There will be no services on Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day) and limited services between Friday 26 December (Boxing Day) and Thursday 1 January (New Years Day)

For urgent matters during the office closure call the Ageing Well office on 5232 9420.

Colac MACH Services will close at 12pm on Wednesday 24 December and reopen on Monday 5 January.

The last MACH session in Apollo Bay will be Monday 22 December. The centre will reopen on Monday 5 January.

The MACH Centre voicemail will not be monitored during the Christmas and New Year closure.

If you need to speak to a Maternal and Child Health Nurse during the Christmas period, we encourage you to ring the 24-hour Maternal and Child Health Line on 13 22 29.

If your baby is unwell, please contact your closest medical service.

The last sale of the year will be held on Thursday 18 December 2025.

Sales will resume at the Colac Regional Saleyards with the Weaner Steer Sale on Tuesday 6 January 2026. The Weaner Heifer Sale will be held on Wednesday 7 January 2026.

The first Fat Sale will take place on Thursday 8 January 2026.

The GOR (Apollo Bay) Visitor Information Centre will close Christmas Day and open 9am – 5pm all other days during the holiday season.
