Landslip - Old Beech Forest Road

The landslip which affected a section of Old Beech Forest Road has slipped further and will require major rectification works.

Old Beech Forest Road is currently closed from the south at McDevitt Siding and at the northern end above the landslip. Turnaround points have been established to enable traffic to safely exit the area.

A large multi-message board with changed traffic conditions has been installed at the Gellibrand end of Old Beech Forest Road to alert traffic heading in the direction of Beech Forest.

Due to the significant damage to the road, the comprehensive assessments to be done, designs for repair prepared, stabilisation works required and complexities with doing works during winter, at this stage it is anticipated that it will take at least six months before the road can be reinstated and reopened.

Council is aware of the inconvenience that the closure of the road is causing for those in the area, so is committed to getting the road secured and reopened as soon as possible.

Council officers will provide regular updates to the community and affected landowners on progress through our regular communication channels.

Road users are advised to take care driving in the area and observe all traffic management instructions in place.
