Construction on the Colac Dog Park at Central Reserve begins on Monday 24 August.

To prepare the site for construction, trees within Central Reserve have been removed due to their condition and associated safety concerns.

Park construction will include establishment of gravel and mulch zones, along with the installation of natural log elements to support development and play.

In addition, a range of park furniture and infrastructure will be installed, including a water fountain, seating, signage and other amenities to ensure a comfortable and user-friendly environment for visitors.

The new dog park is expected to deliver a number of key community benefits including a secure, designated off-leash area where owners can safely exercise their dogs, encouraging community connection among dog owners and park users.

The worksite area will be fenced off, and provisions will be made for the safe movement of pedestrians that may be affected by the development.

Council does not anticipate any impact to Geelong Football League home games or Colac and District Football Netball League finals matches. However, we encourage all visitors to Central Reserve to follow traffic management directions that are in place.

Work is expected to be completed by the beginning of November.
