On behalf of Colac Otway Shire Council, I write to correct recent statements made by Polwarth MP Richard Riordan regarding Council’s decision of August 2023.
Council did not consider a vote of no confidence in the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA), but did resolve to write to the relevant State Government Ministers expressing its concern with the progress of the Apollo Bay Harbour Redevelopment that is now being delivered by GORCAPA.
Council’s position has always been that the Apollo Bay Harbour upgrade from 2020 captured the aspirations of the community and user groups, and was developed through extensive consultation between Council, residents, user groups and authorities.
Council wants to see the community’s vision realised and is concerned that GORCAPA hasn’t provided enough information about what will be delivered and when, and is asking for more information to be released as soon as possible.
