Feedback invited on Barongarook Hall sale proposal
Published on 28 October 2026
At its October meeting, Council resolved to commence a public notice process and seek community feedback on the proposed disposal of the property at 280 Barongarook Road, Barongarook.
The 0.2ha property includes the Barongarook Hall, public toilets and two dilapidated asphalt tennis courts.
Community feedback received through the public notice process will be reported back to Council for consideration before a final decision is made.
In September, Council held an informal community drop-in session at the Barongarook Hall to meet with residents and groups and gather their input on the future of the site.
At the informal community consultation, attendees raised concerns about the potential disposal of the property, particularly the possible loss of access to the hall and public toilet facilities. The importance of the site as a community meeting point and its use by visitors and community events was also discussed.
“We encourage community members and local groups to have their say on the property through the public notice process, including any suggestions for future use or management.” Acting CEO Emma Lowes said.
At the October meeting, Council also resolved to provide public notice of its intention to dispose of Council-owned property at 10 Glenn Street, Warrion.
Initial community engagement was also undertaken through a local drop-in session, where there was support for the sale of the property.
Community members interested in providing feedback on the potential disposal of the Council-owned sites at Barongarook and Warrion are encouraged to visit Council’s website or visit Council’s Customer Service Centre for more information.
Submissions on the proposed disposal of Barongarook Hall and/or 10 Glenn Street, Warrion open Wednesday 4 November, and close at 5pm Wednesday 2 December 2026. Council will consider both proposals at a meeting at a future date.
