Cressy Aerodrome will host the Colac Otway Australia Day event for the second consecutive year.
Council endorsed the Cressy Aerodrome as event hosts at its July meeting following an expression of interest (EOI) process.
The EOI process sought proposals from organisations interested in delivering the community event component of the annual Australia Day celebrations. Cressy Aerodrome was the sole submission received through the process.
Councillors acknowledged the success of the 2026 Australia Day event, which attracted strong attendance from across the community. Council conducts a citizenship ceremony and presents community awards at the event.
The event received positive feedback and combined Council's formal civic program with a family-friendly community celebration featuring aviation-themed activities and local participation opportunities.
Next year’s event will build on the successful format delivered in 2026 and is expected to include a range of family-friendly activities, aviation experiences and opportunities for community participation.
Council officers will now work closely with Cressy Aerodrome to finalise event planning, approvals, risk management, accessibility requirements and delivery arrangements ahead of Australia Day 2027.
