Council is encouraging motorists to travel safely around school zones during road safety upgrades in Colac over the next few weeks.
Current resurfacing works at works at the corner of Queen Street and Pound Road have added to the congestion around Colac College and childcare facilities and these works will be completed in the next week.
Works will also commence in the coming week near Trinity College and Sacred Heart Primary School, which will require traffic management, detours and road closures.
Upgrades include minor drainage, kerb and footpath works, along with priority crossings and speed humps on Pound Road between Hart Street and Armstrong Street.
This is a particularly busy area of town at school times and Council encourages motorists to drive to the conditions, obey speed restrictions, traffic management staff and signage.
Works are expected to be completed between 1 June and 3 July 2026.
Council appreciates the cooperation of motorists while these important safety upgrades take place.
