Draft Fair Access Policy

Council’s Draft Fair Access Policy is now on exhibition with the community invited to provide feedback. In August 2022, the Victorian Government announced a new Fair Access Policy Roadmap, which supports gender equitable access and use of community sports infrastructure across the state. The Fair Access Policy Roadmap requires all Victorian councils from 1 July 2024 to have gender equitable access and use policies in place to be considered eligible to receive infrastructure funding.

The State Government’s directive for the Fair Access Policy is that “females receive a fair share of access to the highest quality facilities at the best and most popular times. Usage policies need to consider not just competition time, but training times, and the distribution between traditional competition and other participation opportunities, as well as different sports.” These policies will ensure that women and girls can fully participate in and enjoy the benefits of community sport, with fair opportunity and access to their local facilities.
