This reserve provides important feeding, resting and breeding habitat for over 20 species of waterbirds, including a number of migratory species. Other wetland inhabitants include frogs, snakes, invertebrates and fish species as well as water plants such as sedges, rushes and water-loving trees. Aside from providing important habitat for these plants and animals, wetlands protect and improve water quality and play a major role in nutrient recycling.
