Colac Otway Shire Council welcomed twenty new Australian citizens at a citizenship ceremony on Wednesday 4 May at the Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre (COPACC).

The new citizens included those from the Netherlands, Romania, Vietnam, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, Albania, Italy and Spain.

“We have a wonderfully diverse community in Colac Otway and it’s lovely to welcome so many new citizens from different parts of the world who have chosen to make Colac Otway Shire their home,” said Mayor Kate Hanson.

“I always enjoy attending the citizenship ceremonies, it’s a great privilege to be a part of such an important day in people’s lives.

“With restrictions having eased, Councillors had an opportunity to enjoy a morning tea with new citizens and their family and friends, to learn their background and how they're enjoying living in Colac Otway.”
