The magic of Paris Underground returns to COPACC
Published on 10 August 2018
After touring Australia over the past three years to sold-out houses and to critical acclaim, the Paris Underground - Encore is coming to COPACC.
A subversion of the classic French cabaret and variety show, this production brings together a diverse range of performers; magicians, dancers, singers, circus and burlesque artists.
Paris Underground won acclaim when they showed at COPACC in 2015 and also wowed the Colac and district community at the 2018 COPACC theatre season launch.
The show includes the magic of Madotti & Vegas, Australia’s most unique magicians; the beauty and grace of dancer and circus artist Hannah Trott; the rare skill of tap-dance king Monsieur Eden Read; the dangerously charming and risqué repartee of chanteuse Aurora Kurth; and new to the underground, international burlesque artiste, dancer and showgirl, Mimi Le Noir and the gravity defying talent of cirque specialist Tim Rutty!!
“Audiences will witness the delights of a magic spectacular and French burlesque, cabaret and variety show,” co-creator and director of the show Richard Vegas said.
“The singers, dancers and illusionists will seduce and intoxicate the audience with a show that sits as a cross between Moulin Rouge, with a touch of Crazy Horse, high-art circus theatre, comedy and a magic cabaret.
“Welcome to the Underground, the dark heart of Paris,” Vegas said.
Paris Underground – Encore has performed to packed houses throughout Australia. The show has been described by critics as “sexy, alluring, atmospheric, accomplished, supremely entertaining vaudeville...”
Paris Underground – Encore plays at COPACC on Friday, September 14 at 8pm.
Tickets are $45 for adults, $41 for concession and $27 for under 30s.
Paris Underground – Encore is proudly sponsored by The Colac Herald, Dinny Goonan and Colac Landscape Supplies.
