Council’s Colac office to reopen

Colac Otway Shire Council will reopen the doors at its Colac Customer Service Centre in Rae Street on Monday, October 12 after almost three months of closure due to the COVID19 situation in Colac.
Colac Otway Shire Chief Executive Peter Brown said Council had continued to offer customer services throughout the closure via phone, email and website, with customer service staff continuing to work behind closed doors.
“Council has followed State Government advice with the closures of our facilities this year, and also taken into consideration the COVID19 outbreaks in Colac.
“We reopened the Apollo Bay Customer Service Centre at GORVIC last month when restrictions allowed and have waited to reopen the Colac centre until receiving DHHS advice that Colac has no active cases.
“During the time our office doors have been closed, Council has continued its ongoing program to improve online services including creating easy-to-complete digital forms for inquiries and various Council records and services.
“To keep our community and staff safe, Council encourages customers to explore our website at www.colacotway.vic.gov.au or contact us by phone on 52329400 or email inq@outlook.vic.gov.au
“If you need to visit our office in Colac or Apollo Bay because you are unable to access our services or make an inquiry via phone and web, please remember your mask and follow social distancing and hand hygiene requirements to reduce the spread of COVID19.
“Cashless payments will also be our preferred payment method and if you would like to speak to an officer, for example to discuss your Planning and Building inquiry, please make an appointment by phone to ensure staff are available.
“From Monday, October 11, State Government restrictions require people to wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth, it does not mean a scarf or bandana.
“Anyone who has an exemption is urged to use online or phone services for their safety and the safety of our community.
“Colac Otway Shire’s COPACC and Bluewater pool, gymnasium and stadium remain closed to the public in accordance with State Government restrictions until further notice.”
