Council to ask for expedient decision
Colac Otway Shire Council will write to authorities to request an expedient decision for Christian Feetham who has been in detention, pending deportation to New Zealand, since April.
Shire Mayor Joe McCracken said that Council was responding to a request from Mr Feetham’s partner and Council would continue to advocate for Mr Feetham, who had helped his mother run their family farm at Apollo Bay before authorities cancelled his visa.
“Council will write to the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs David Coleman, Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton, Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson and Corangamite candidate Libby Coker,” Cr McCracken said.
“Council will request an expedient decision for Mr Feetham which takes into account his personal circumstances, being that his long-term partner, her child and his three children all live in Australia.”
