Ordinary Council Meeting - Wednesday 22 April 2020
Colac Otway Shire Council considered a motion at the April Ordinary Council meeting (Wednesday 22 April 2020) to allow the meeting to be live-streamed to the public (and also suspend question time). The recommendations were made to Councillors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, in accordance with the Chief Health Officer of Victoria’s Direction to the public to stay home where possible. The recommendation was passed; the Unconfirmed Resolution of Council states:
That Council live streams open Ordinary Council Meetings, Special Council Meetings and Planning Committee Meetings via Colac Otway Shire's YouTube channel, subject to the availability of the required technology.

Colac Otway Shire Council cancelled its 25 March 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting, scheduled to be held in Apollo Bay, in response to the COVID-19 situation. It is Council’s aim to arrange for live-streaming of the April Ordinary Council Meeting.
This decision has been made based on:
- Advice from National Cabinet’s implementation of a Stage 1 shutdown of non-essential activity across Australia due to Coronavirus COVID-19.
- The health and safety of all members of the community.
- There are no items on the agenda which must urgently be considered by Council and these items will be postponed to the April Council Meeting.
- The Local Law allows the CEO to cancel a meeting in the case of an emergency. The State Government has declared a State of Emergency.
