| Melbourne Cup Public Holiday | | Melbourne Cup Day has now been gazetted as a public holiday across all of Victoria, including Colac Otway Shire.
Under the State Government’s Public Holidays Amendment Bill 2008, all of Victoria will observe Melbourne Cup Day as a public holiday unless Council has nominated a different day of significance to celebrate a public holiday. Colac Otway Shire has not gazetted a different public holiday.
The new legislation means that Victorians living in 28 regional council areas including Colac Otway Shire will now be able to enjoy the Melbourne Cup Day as a public holiday this year.
