Bill Johnston Medal 2004-05

Lionel Sexton has won the Bill Johnston Medal for the Colac and District Cricket Association's best A grade player as voted for by the Association umpires. Lionel won his second successive medal by polling 21 votes, ahead of Brendan Hammond (Colac West) and Ben Knight (Apollo Bay) on 11 votes each.
The allrounder finished the season with a competiton high 36 wickets and was fourth in the association batting aggregate with 391 runs for the season.
Other players from the Colac Cricket Club to poll well were club captain David Hintum third on 10 votes and opening batsman Ian Seuren equal 4th on 9 votes.

Cricket Victoria Club of the Year

Colac Cricket Club has won Cricket Victoria's "Club of the Year" for season 2004-05. The winner was selected from a field of six finalists from all levels of Victorian cricket including Premier League, Sub-District, Metropolitan and Country cricket. The Colac Cricket Club won on the stregnth of its five year strategic plan devised and implemented by the club during the off season. The strategic plan was developed to increase member participation around the club, ensure ongoing success for the club on and off the field and to increase family involvement at all levels of cricket.
The Colac Cricket Club, in conjunction with David Schram and the Colac Otway Shire was also involved in disabled cricket matches in the region.
The club will receive a plague marking the award from former Victorian wicketkeeper Darren Berry early next cricket season.

A Reserve win grand final

Colac Cricket Club's A Reserve team has won the 2004-05 Colac and Disctrict Cricket Association premiership. After lsoing the toss and bowling, Colac had Irrewarra in trouble early with opening bowler Kevin Armstrong claiming 3 wickets in his second over. After four oversIrrewarra were reeling at 3 for 5. Regular wickets fell thorughout the day with Irrewarra managing to be all out for 157. Armstrong finished the match with 4 wickets.
Colac were steady in their run chase with Tony Walker top scoring with 65. A mini collapse of 3 for 0 with 12 runs required for victory made the final score of 8 for 160 look a little closer than it was. The win for Colac was well earned after finishing the home and away season in fourth position and defeating the highly fancied Tomahawk Creek in the semi final.
