Australia Day celebrations

On Australia Day 26 January, we celebrate what is great about Australia and being Australian. We take pride in who we are and promote diversity, harmony, social cohesion and respect for our fellow human beings. Through the Australia Day Awards we acknowledge the efforts and commitment of citizens who have made a significant contribution to our community and Australia as a whole.

2018 Australia Day Celebrations - Colac Memorial Square

The Colac Otway Shire in partnership with local clubs and groups are hosting the shire's official Australia Day event on Friday 26 January in Colac Memorial Square from 11am to 3pm.

There will be plenty happening in the square on the day, including the official Australia Day ceremony (starting at 11.30am), an Australia Day market, food stalls and children’s activities. There will be a free community barbecue and free ice cream at 1pm.

A great program of live entertainment on stage will include local performers and a performance from one of Australia’s premiere calypso-inspired tropical party bands; Mighty Duke & The Lords proudly sponsored by COPACC.

Another great addition to the day is the Community Expo; organised by the community for the community. This is a great opportunity for local business, organisations and community groups and clubs to come along and promote their services, recruit new members and promote upcoming activities and "come and try" days.

If you would like more information about the Community Expo or wish to register your interest in attending please complete the 2018 Community Expo Registration Form(PDF, 210KB) and return to the relevant precinct manager as specified in the registration form. All forms must be returned by 4pm on 8 December 2017.
