Coming to COPACC in October ...

Natalie Weir's Carmen Sweet
Friday, October 23, 8pm, Saturday, October 24, 2.30pm
60 Minutes (no interval)
Box Office: 5232 2077
Adults $41 Concessions $36 Students $25

Spend the night with the definitive seductress of stage as she weaves her deliciously wicked wiles through one of Expressions Dance Company’s most loved productions. Performed to Rodion Shchedrin’s gripping Carmen Suite by six EDC dancers, this iconic tale of Spanish heat and gypsy passion unravels when naïve soldier Don Josè has his heart ignited by the fiery Carmen.

Josè’s attempts to tame the freedom-loving beauty are futile, and when she leaves him for the famous matador Escamillo, all three are engulfed in the flames of jealousy and revenge. Natalie Weir’s Carmen is a free spirit; dangerous, volatile and vulnerable, brought to vivid life by three dancers playing her different states of mind and alter egos.

In the lead up to its Colac performances, EDC sent an advance party to audition young dancers for the fantastic opportunity to perform with EDC onstage during the performance. Six young dancers from our region have been selected to dance with the company.

Tuesday, November 17, 2:30pm & 8pm
65 minutes (no interval)
Box Office: 5232 2077
Adults $41 Concessions $36 Students $25

Based on his two best-selling books, Flak and Fly, well-known writer and performer Michael Veitch presents Flak – true stories from the men who flew in World War Two.

He takes on the roles of five former airmen, recounting their extraordinary, compelling and largely untold stories of combat.

We meet Australian bomber pilot Bruce Clifton whose Lancaster was shot down over neutral Norway, Englishman James
Coward who flew a Spitfire shot down by a German gunner in the Battle of Britain, a Welshman, and a former Nazi pilot. The stories are interwoven with insights from Michael Veitch’s lifelong obsession with air warfare and humorous anecdotes shared by the 50-plus pilots, air gunners and bomb aimers Veitch has interviewed. Join Michael Veitch for a post-show Q&A,
plus afternoon tea, after the 2:30pm show.
