| Council puts Environmental Action Plan in place
Colac Otway Shire Council has set 85 actions for the next two years to help achieve the targets of its 2010-2018 Environment Strategy.
At its September meeting, Council approved the new Environmental Action Plan, which sets actions in the areas of council-managed land; planning and regulations; work and services; education and awareness; advocacy; and facilitation.
Environment Manager Stewart Anderson said there were 41 targets in the Environment Strategy and the EAP nominated a response to every target “in some way”.
He said the EAP identified the target being addressed, details of the action to meet the target, the Council business unit responsible for implementation, key milestones and dates for completing the action, and the outcome expected.
“For some targets there is more than one action response, which might assist in completing the target, or nominate further investigation and research to complete the target within the indicated timeframe,” Mr Anderson said.
“A detailed report will be provided to the Council and the community of our progress against the EAP in 2012.”
