Colac Otway Shire Council - MobileMuster


MobileMuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry.

Colac Otway Council collected and recycled 30 kilo of mobile phones, batteries and accessories In 2012-13.

Initiated voluntarily by the Australian telecommunications industry in 1999, its overall aim is to prevent mobile phones ending up in landfill.

The program collects and recycles mobile phone handsets, batteries and accessories from a network of over 3,500 mobile phone retailers, local councils, government agencies and business drop off points across Australia.

Mobiles can be dropped off at the following locations:
Colac Otway Shire Offices
Corangamite Regional Library
Budget Retravision
Apollo Bay Resource Recovery Centre

Free recycling satchels are available at participating Australia Post outlets or alternatively you can download the reply paid mailing label from the mobile muster website.

Mobile Muster is managed by the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) on behalf of the following members who fund the program voluntarily:

- handset manufacturers -Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, HTC, LG Electronics, i-mate, NEC, Panasonic, Sharp
- network carriers - Telstra, Optus,Vodafone, 3 Mobile,
- service providers - AAPT and Virgin Mobile
- distributors - Force Technology

The recycling service is free to consumers, schools, businesses, local councils and government agencies.
