News>Council participates in Ride to Work Day
| Council calls on residents to join Ride to Work Day
Colac Otway Shire Council employees will join thousands of others across Australia participating in Ride to Work Day on Wednesday, October 12.
The Otway Oracles – Council’s Around the Bay in a Day cycling team – is leading the charge to encourage the shire’s residents to free wheel it to work.
Otway Oracles team captain Charlie Tucker said the Otway Oracles were treating Ride to Work Day as an opportunity to train for their Around the Bay in a Day effort.
“Ride to Work Day aims to get people out in the fresh air to enjoy some exercise,” he said.
“Cycling is also a great environmentally-friendly way to travel.”
Mr Tucker said the Otway Oracles were looking for sponsorships. All proceeds for Around the Bay in a Day go the Smith Family, which helps disadvantaged children.
