News>Colac West Prinary School Litter Activity
| Pupils wage war on litter
Colac West Primary School’s grade three and four pupils are waging a war on litter.
About 20 students from the school will collect rubbish from parks and other public spaces as part of their contribution to World Environment Day.
The students will travel to the West Barwon Dam near Forrest on Wednesday, June 8 targeting litter as they stop at various landmarks.
Council’s Environmental Projects Officer Andrew Barber said pupils at Colac West Primary were very environmentally focussed, and keen to take an active community role.
“The students were disappointed in the amount of rubbish that they saw laying around and wanted to help do something about it,” he said.
“This sends a strong message to the community to be more thoughtful when disposing of rubbish.
“Council is proud to support this initiative as Colac West Primary School has always maintained a proactive approach to participation in Council-coordinated environmental programs.”
