| Draft Rural Living Strategy – Community Engagement Update
Colac Otway Shire Council is pleased to report on the most recent round of public consultation sessions conducted in February for the Draft Rural Living Strategy.
All the informal ‘drop-in’ sessions held at Lavers Hill, Colac, Cororooke and Gellibrand were well attended. These sessions enabled the community to seek further information and discuss issues with the consultant and Council planners on a range of matters, including:
• Small township development • Location of rural living development • Rural housing and subdivision policy • Environmental constraints on future rural residential development • Future growth potential of small townships • As well as specific issues related to any individual concerns.
It is important to recognise that the ‘drop in’ sessions were conducted to encourage the community to discuss and get clarification from the planners and consultant on any issues they wished to raise. They were not intended to be submissions to the strategy, which must be made in writing to Council.
Council is encouraging submissions on the Draft Rural Living Strategy to be submitted via email to inq@colacotway.vic.gov.au or in writing to Strategic Planning at PO Box 283, Colac, Victoria, 3250 by 5.00pm Monday 4 April 2011.
All submissions will be considered as the draft is finalised and changes are made to the document prior to consideration by Council at a future Council Meeting.
For more information, please direct your enquiries to Daniel Pech or Anne Sorensen by calling 5232 9400.
