We all love fireworks and watching the spectacular displays. Unfortunately when it comes to your cat & dog it is a very different scary experience.
Dogs have very sensitive hearing and often get very frightened by the very loud sounds of fireworks. Fear takes over the animal and with the extra adrenalin in there body can make them behave out of character, such as jumping over fences which would normally keep them in. Cats are less likely to be effected by fireworks as there hearing is less sensitive.
Dogs and cats on the run after being frightened can be difficult to catch, they will run miles away from home, can cause traffic accidents and end up with minor or serious injuries.
When fireworks are planned for a celebration you should bring your animal inside the house, garage or shed to minimise the risk of their escape.
Do yourself and your animal a favour by making sure they are safe, comfortable and confined when fireworks are proposed!
