Colac Otways Performing Arts & Cultural Centre (COPACC) embraces the skills, arts, beliefs, traditions and aspirations of our community, catering for the performing arts, films and exhibitions.

| Exhibitions at COPACC | | There is an abundance of art headed for COPACC in the next few months, including:
An Artful Winter - A series exhibitions by district artists inspired by the Voice of Nature. From May to the end of August we have The Language of Trees - a textile and mixed media exhibition by The Third Wednesday Group, a photographic exhibition by Tim Lucas called Cold Comfort: Life in a Frozen World and Mother Nature's Coastal Formations by Brian Worsley. CrossXPolination - Celebrating textile and fibre Art this festival will include master classes, floor talks, exhibitions, an art market and workshops. | Ali McGregor's Alchemy | | Date: Saturday, May 25, 8pm
On the back of her international tour of Jazz Cigarette, Ali McGregor creates a bold, sexy jazz reinvention in her dynamic new show.
With Alchemy, Ali McGregor draws on her influences – from opera and cabaret – to trashy 80s pop diva. With fine jazz musicians, she creates unique mash-ups and genre-defying versions of the likes of Madonna, Salt-n-Pepa and Kiss performed by a 1940s style siren in a Las Vegas jazz club. As one of Australia’s most versatile singers, Ali brings a truly individual flavour to some of your most unlikely favourites.

| The Australian Voices: Performances and workshop! | | May 28

WORLD renowned a cappella vocal group, The Australian Voices, are bringing their brand new show to Colac's performing arts centre on Tuesday, May 28, as part of a national tour.
Artistic director Gordon Hamilton said Moon was "a sublime theatre and choral experience showcasing the exquisite" sounds of the 20 strong choir.
Mr Hamilton collaborated with acclaimed Australian writer Venero Armanno to create the new multi-movement work.
"We are delighted to be bringing Moon direct to audiences across regional Australia who would otherwise have to travel a long distance to see it," Mr Hamilton said.
He described Moon as a classical story of longing, love found and lost, and love everlasting.
"The inspirational performance proves that when true hearts connect, love will find a way even in the most unlikely circumstances," Mr Hamilton added.
The work is based on Mr Armanno's poem about the lonely Moon who sends out her moonbeams to find Sam, a handsome young man sick in bed who spends a lot of time laptop surfing in a virtual world, but longs for a real woman. When Moon decides to come to Earth in physical form, the sparks begin to fly.
"My goal has been to create a multidimensional experience with rich sounds, vibrant movement and a plethora of sensory stimuli," Mr Hamilton said.
COPACC manager Karen Patterson said the result was superb angelic vocal harmonies, and a breath-taking range of visual effects to create an evocative interpretation of love, set to an effervescent score.
"This show is a must-see for anyone who loves to hear beautiful singing in its purest form and will be truly inspiring for our local singers and choirs who are welcome to join Gordon Hamilton and the 20 strong choir for a very special workshop just a few hours before the performance.
"They will have the chance to spend an hour with The Australian Voices to create a mass choir ensemble, with the opportunity of performing in the first half of the show."

| Cliffy - A Special Movie Event | | Friday, March 24, 6:30pm
The ABC’s new film Cliffy – the story of Cliff Young – starring Kevin Harrington in the title role is coming to COPACC for an exclusive screening on Friday, May 24, at 6:30pm with all proceeds going to Colac Area Health Foundation. It’s the remarkable story of Beech Forest farmer Cliff Young, Australia’s most unlikely sporting hero, who shuffled his way into the nation’s heart when he won the 550 mile Sydney-to-Melbourne footrace. The film, being screened on ABC1 on May 26, is being seen in just three locations prior to being televised. Producer Nigel O’Dell sought the ABC’s permission to bring the film to COPACC so that it could be seen by the late Cliffy’s friends and family who assisted with research. Mr O’Dell requested all proceeds benefit Colac Area Health.
So, to celebrate the movie about teetotaller and vegetarian dairy and spud farmer Cliffy, we will celebrate his story after the movie with a Spudtastic Supper which is included in the ticket price of $22. Julietta Jameson, the author of Cliffy – the Cliff Young Story will be at COPACC for book signings. Colac’s Cow Lick Bookshop will have the books on sale in the COPACC foyer.

| DIESEL: The Velvet Curtain Tour | | Friday 13, September
With a career spanning 25 years (35 singles, 13 albums, 6 ARIA awards) and record sales edging 1 million, DIESEL the journeyman of music is on his way to COPACC on Friday, September 13.
With blues music in his “DNA”, an influence largely from his Father’s record collection, DIESEL has blended all styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.
Rewind to 2005… ‘Singled Out’ is released - a solo live recording which is the catalyst for DIESEL embarking on a juggernaut solo tour, a tour that will establish him as a solo performer. 8 years on and DIESEL has evolved into a solo artist of great diversity.
Alongside the hits and rarities people have grown to expect from an artist of longevity, DIESEL blends his influences by also playing tracks from Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Neil Young (to name a few…) combined with the unique ‘theatre’ environment, it makes for an all encompassing musical experience.
