Councillors at the Central Reserve

Anticipation builds as the countdown to ticket sales for the pre-season JLT Community Series match between Geelong and Essendon begins.

To be held on Sunday 11 March at Central Reserve in Colac the match has generated interest across the local community and further afield, with host Colac Otway Shire anticipating a sell-out event.

The AFL will release up to 10,000 tickets from Monday 5 February to AFL and Club members, with general public tickets available from 9am on Tuesday 6 February. All tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Mayor Joe McCracken encouraged people to get in early to give themselves the best chance to secure tickets.

“We know the community is a-buzz with excitement about the match. Council shares the enthusiasm and is thrilled to deliver this event for our community,” he said.

“With up to 10,000 people expected to fill the Central Reserve to see two of the great AFL teams, this is going to be an awesome showcase of the recently upgraded Central Reserve as a premier regional facility.

“The opportunity to host the match comes after Council worked closely with the AFL to highlight what our facility can offer.

“To have big name players such as Gary Ablett, Patty Dangerfield and Dyson Heppell running out on the ground really is a huge accomplishment for our region. We hope as many of our local community as possible get to witness the occasion for themselves.”
