Guide to Council services during Christmas and New Year period 2018-19

Council, management and staff would like to thank residents and ratepayers for their support in 2018, and look forward to working with the community in 2019. Council wishes everyone across the shire a happy and safe festive season.

Customer Service Centres    
Colac
The Council office will close at 4pm on Friday 21 December, re-opening at 8.30am on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
Apollo Bay
The Council office will close at 1.15pm on Friday 21 December 2018, re-opening, at 8.45 am on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
In the event of an after-hours emergency, please call the 24 hour number on 5232 9400.

Visitor Information Centres
The Visitor Information Centres at Apollo Bay and Colac will be closed on Tuesday 25 December, but will be open from 9am to 5pm all other days during the festive season. Discover more about the region online at visitotways.com or visitapollobay.com

Colac Regional Saleyards  
A Sale was held on Thursday 13 December; the last sale of the year scheduled for Thursday 20 December has been cancelled. Sales will resume at the Colac Regional Saleyards as follows:

Thursday 3 January 2019: store sale (steers); Monday 7 January 2019: store sale (heifers); Thursday 10 January 2019: first fat sale for the year.

Maternal and Child Health Services                 
Colac
Closes at 2pm on Monday 24 December and reopens on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
Apollo Bay
The last session will be Monday 17 December, the centre will re-open on Monday 7 January 2019.

If you need to speak to a Maternal and Child Health Nurse during the Christmas period, we encourage you to ring the 24-hour Maternal and Child Health Line on 13 22 29. If your baby is unwell please contact your closest medical service.

COPACC
The COPACC office will be closed from 4pm on Friday 21 December and will re-open at 8.30am on Wednesday 2 January 2019.

Waste Management Service
Kerbside  collections

From Tuesday 25 December until Friday 4 January your general waste collection will be the day after your scheduled collection
e.g. Tuesday 25 December will be collected on Wednesday 26 December.

Recycling reminder
Weekly recycling collections will start on Wednesday 26 December and will run until Friday 18 January 2019.
Normal fortnightly collections resume on Monday 21 January 2019.

Transfer Stations
All transfer stations are closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Apollo Bay Transfer Station

Open seven days from Wednesday 26 December until Sunday 3 February 2019, 10am to 2pm.

Alvie Transfer Station
Open: Wednesday 26, Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Sunday 30 December, 10am to 3pm.

Birregurra Transfer Station
Open: Sunday 23 December and Sunday 30 December, 10am to 4pm.

Drop off collections
Beech Forest
Saturday 22 December and Saturday 5 January 2019, 7.30am to 11.30am.

Lavers Hill
Saturday 22 December and Saturday 5 January 2019, midday to 4pm.

Carlisle River
Sunday 23 December and 6 January 2019, 7.30am to 11.30am.

Gellibrand
Sunday 23 December and 6 January 2019, midday to 4pm.

Older Persons and Ability Support Service
The Older Persons and Ability Support Service will close at 4pm Friday 21 December and reopen at 8.30am Wednesday 2 January 2019.

Home care – The last day for general home care will be Friday 21 December.

Personal care – Will continue as normal, but a change in time may occur due to reduced staffing
during this period.

Respite care – Will be considered upon request. Please contact Council on 5232 9420.

Meals on wheels – Please contact Council on 5232 9420 for delivery days during this period.

Case management – Will continue as normal.

HACC assessments – There will be no Home and Community Care assessments during this period.

Community transport – The last day for transport will be Friday 21 December.

Property maintenance – Will not be available during this period. To contact our support service while the office is closed, please
call 5232 9420.
