Community encouraged to develop ideas for grants program

Colac Otway Shire Council is encouraging community groups and sporting clubs to continue developing their plans in readiness for Council’s updated grants program and guidelines.

Colac Otway Shire Council’s annual grants and awards program is an important part in supporting events and projects organised and run by local community and sporting groups across the shire.

The Council distribute more than $300,000 in community grants annually, and are encouraging people to continue with their project planning for this year’s round of grant funding.

Council staff undertook a review of its grant and awards programs in order to increase community benefit, and improve grant management. Council is set to make a decision on the review at its March Ordinary Council meeting.

Community groups are encouraged to keep developing their ideas in the lead up to a Council decision.

People thinking of applying for grants can still prepare for their applications, and in the event the program is endorsed, grants guidelines and more detailed information will be released on the Council’s website.
