Colac Otway hosts Corangamite Shire

Colac Otway Shire Council is looking forward to working with Corangamite Shire Council to jointly advocate for major projects and issues which affect the neighbouring municipalities.

Colac Otway Chief Executive Peter Brown said Corangamite Councillors visited Colac Otway Councillors this week to discuss a broad range of topics which affect both municipalities.

“Colac Otway and Corangamite shires share numerous common issues and working together will strengthen our advocacy for action and funding,” Mr Brown said.

“We have already been working with neighbouring shires to the west through the Princes Highway West Alliance to attract funding to upgrade the highway from Colac to the border, and have its significance as a freight route recognised.

“Advocating for more train services on the Warrnambool line, maintaining the region’s road network, issues with international drivers and tourism infrastructure are topics both Councils will potentially look at together.

“Corangamite Chief Executive Andrew Mason and I plan to meet next week and discuss some of these issues, how a co-ordinated approach could benefit both shires and start to align our advocacy documents.”
