Colac Otway Shire Mayor appointed to state panel

Colac Otway Shire Mayor Jason has been appointed as one of 14 Victorian council mayors to provide high-level advice on issues which impact Local Government.

Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek announced Cr Schram’s appointment to the 2019 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel, after considering applicants from across the state.

Cr Schram said he was looking forward to serving on the advisory panel and considering a range of issues including the impacts of legislation and policies on Local Government.

“Local Government is responsible to deliver a lot of State Government regulations across our community and it will important to provide the State Government with an insight into Council operations and Local Government’s view on particular issues,” he said.

“The panel will also look at state responses to the challenges that councils face, and the contribution that councils can make to achieving state objectives.”

Cr Schram will join Lord Mayor of Melbourne City Council Sally Capp; Mayor of Ararat Rural City Council Peter Beales; Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Council Mikaela Power; Mayor of Greater Bendigo City Council Marg O’Rourke; Mayor of Greater Dandenong City Council Roz Blades; Mayor of Greater Geelong City Council Bruce Harwood; Mayor of Greater Shepparton City Council Kim O’Keeffe; Mayor of Knox City Council Jake Keogh; Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council Amanda McClaren; Mayor of Surf Coast Shire Council Rose Hodge; Mayor of Towong Shire Council David Wortmann; Mayor of Wyndham City Council Mia Shaw and Mayor of Yarra City Council Danae Bosler on the panel.

The appointments to the advisory panel are effective immediately and end on Sunday 20 October 2019, with the first panel meeting next month.
