Extreme danger rating days

Kerbside collections
  • Collections can start earlier than 6am to ensure trucks return to safe zones by midday
  • No trucks should travel outside Colac and Apollo Bay urban areas after 12 midday especially through the Otways
  • Collections on days of Extreme fire danger rating are at the contractor's and Council's discretion
Transfer stations
  • Will remain open
Domestic waste and recyclables collection
  • All drop off facilities will remain open at the contractor's and Council's discretion
Bulk haulage
  • No bulk haulage trucks should travel between Apollo Bay and Colac after midday on Extreme fire danger rating days

Catastrophic danger rating days

Kerbside collections
  • No trucks should travel outside Colac and Apollo Bay urban areas after 10am, especially through the Otways
  • Collections can start earlier than 6am to ensure trucks return to safe zones by midday
  • Collections on Catastrophic fire danger days are at the contractor’s and Council's  discretion
Transfer stations
  • All transfer stations will be closed to the public
Domestic waste and recyclables collection
  • All drop off facilities will be closed to the public
Bulk haulage
  • No bulk haulage trucks should travel between Apollo Bay and Colac after 10am on days of Catastrophic fire danger rating

 

Repeated extreme heat days

After repeated days in excess of 35 degrees, contractors can request permission from the Council for their staff to start collections earlier than 6am.
