Work Experience

Council’s work experience program provides secondary and tertiary students with an understanding of local government and exposure to a formal work environment.   It’s a great introduction to a career in local government with high calibre training, a vibrant and progressive environment and the satisfaction of knowing your work really makes a difference.

Students will be given meaningful and challenging projects in a supportive work environment. Work will depend on the type of placement and the work area in which the student is placed.

How to apply

Request for placements are only available to students from approved educational institutions (secondary schools, TAFE or universities) and where their educational institution or agency covers them for personal insurance and public liability.

Secondary students are requested to arrange their work experience through their school career advisor or work experience co-ordinator, while tertiary students must complete an online application form.
